PS3 Trophy System?

Postby metalschrammer on Wed Jul 09, 2008 11:45 pm

Sounds like Sony is trying to copy the 360 achievement system. Anyone know about this? I guess not all games will have them but they put it in recently. Just goes to show that they realise the dominant console IMO.

This is my post from xbox.com but it got locked. :( Guess I saw it coming but I was basically saying xbox had a good idea and now PS3 has to copy them. Oh well

Grayski had the same problem with xbox.com, which inspired me to make this dump.

Grayski said he doesnt miss acheviements when playing on ps3.

speaking of copycats has anyone heard ofthe new motion controller Microsoft is working on? It looks like the wiimote to me. And I guess they also are going to come out with a slimmer model of the 360 and slim it down to about the size of a Wii. No offense to microsoft as I love their products but thats a copy cat if Ive ever seen one.

Microsoft are being very coy about Avatars as well.

Allthough they stole the idea from wii (kinda), they also have the possibility of capatalisng on the very profitable There/sceondlife market, where people like to buy new clothes etc for there avatars.

Second life is huge for some people, spending hard earned cash into a fantasy. But hey, I am a gamer, so horses for courses right?

MGS4 on the xbox is a welcome addition. As is the remote and blu-ray additions. It would herald a spate of new games, especially arcade ones to accomodate the remote.

I like the direction microsoft are going. Michael Porter, the father of business strategy, suggests that are two ways to compete; price and differentiation.

PS3 and Wii go for differentiation, by promoting the fact that their consoles are able to do new and amazing things, like the wii's remote and PS3's blu-ray. So the intelligent thing for Microsoft to do, is to mitigate the USP (unique selling point) of its' competitors and compete with price. The fact that the box is so cheap is evidence to this!

Enough business rubbish from me.
