Woe is me

Postby MaxW on Thu May 07, 2009 10:10 pm

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, I come bearing bad news.

MY SEXBOX IS DEAD

RIP Terence the 360

I got the E74 error message.

I had a look at Doomey's error codes, and it transpires that it has something (apparently) to do with the AV cable, seeing as I don't use one, I think one or other must be wrong.

Tried a few things that the xbox.com website suggested to no avail, its as dead as a door nail.

Good news though, despite being out of normal warranty, I am covered under a Microsoft extended warranty to cover this particular error.

So it seems like I will be out of commission for a while, while my xbox goes to Germany, where I have never been. Lucky thing.

I guess the E74 is a lottery. I got the same error code in October and managed to have my xbox last until March. I had very glitchy graphics since the E74 code was a graphic card issue (sometimes its the AV cable but its usually the Graphic card crapping out) but it was usable except Fable 2 had such severe issues I couldnt see what I was doing lol. I know when my xbox did finally die I began to find the finer things in life...like my old PS2 lol.

Thanks for the support guys.

I suppose for me its a blessing in disguise. I am doing what are considered to be some of the hardest exams in the world. The ACA accountancy qualification, so no xbox may mean I do more revision!

I tired a few things to get it working, but I would rather it went away to be fixed than try to struggle on with a semi broken one!

I might dabble in a bit of the original half life or some CSS source.

Does anyone have Steam on here?

Ha ha. Here is something that made me smile, I was going through a CD wallet of PC games I own, and found the original halo. Its installing as I write this! So even while my xbox is dead, I can get my fix of master chief banter.

My PC is not good enough to run Halo 2, as I did think about that. Are there any other games I can get my GS fixation on?

Good news:-

1) my xbox has been returned to me. After just under three weeks, from the initial problem to getting a console returned to me. I was very impressed by the speed of the service. Considering they only picked it up on Monday the 11th! They only had it just over a week before they sent it back. I also got a month of xboxlive gold for free, which was an unexpected surprise.

2) I have also fixed my router issues. So now my halo matchmaking is ten times faster, and I can actually play on GOW2 online for the first time! Really happy about this.

I plugged it all in to make sure it all worked, and get the router problem sorted. But I have actually put the xbox back in its box, to keep me from temptation, so i actually do some work.

Glad to hear you're back. I know how rough it is to go without it but then again the 360 is how I spend all my free time.
